Helen Dean McCalpin Pierce, 87, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at her residence. She was born in Alabama to James “Jim” McCalpin and Lena Humphries McCalpin. She was a homemaker and attended Friendship Baptist Church.
Services will be Friday, May 20, at 2 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Alabama, with Brother Randy Hargett officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Red Bay, Alabama. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama, will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are two daughters, Anita Coan (Tim), Reeltown, Alabama, and Melinda Moore (Freddie), Red Bay, Alabama; five grandsons, Chris Pierce (Pam), Kitt Coan (Kiley), Kasey Coan (Christy), Jeremy Hastings, and Dustin Hastings; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan Pierce, Ethan Pierce, Kamryn Coan, Kaylee Coan, Jacqueline Hastings, Jade Storment, and Gracie Parker; three brothers, Harlie McCalpin (Louise), James H. McCalpin (Jeanette), and Bobby Joe McCalpin (Nancy); a host of nieces and nephews; stepgrandchildren, Tina Gray (Jeff), Tracy Pharr, and Michael Moore; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lewis Pierce; a son, Frankie Pierce; a grandson, Jason Pierce; and siblings, Kenneth McCalpin, J.P. McCalpin, Grace Armstrong, and Nopel Garrison.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and a great-grandson.
Visitation will be today 6-8:30 p.m., at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Alabama.
The family would like to thank everyone that cared for their loved one including Dr. Kristy Crandell and staff, Hospice of North Alabama, and special friend and caregiver Delores Davis.
