 Helen Caulkins "Brownie"  BrownHelen (“Brownie”) Caulkins Brown, died peacefully at home at age of 84 on Sunday, January 13th, 2019, from Alzheimers.
Ms. Brown was born in 1934 to Helen and Wilford Caulkins, Jr. of Lookout Mountain, Tn. She spent her entire childhood on Lookout Mountain and graduated high school from Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga. After high school, she attended and graduated from Vanderbilt University. Shortly after college she met and married Hutton Brown. The couple lived in Nashville for a few years before settling in Pulaski, Tennessee in 1962, where Brownie lived the rest of her life. In addition to raising two boys she worked for many years as an accountant in the family business, Browns Car Center.

She was a vibrant member of the community in Pulaski. She was a member of various organizations over the years, but the two organizations she cared about the most were the First Presbyterian Church and the Giles County Public Library. She was both a Deacon and Elder in the church as well as member of the choir for over 40 years. She was on the board of directors of the library as well as a volunteer and fundraiser.

Brownie was a loving and devoted wife, caring and supportive mother, a doting grandmother, and a dear friend to many. She never met a stranger and would gladly spend hours talking common interests or acquaintances.

She is survived by her sister, Harriet Moore, her two sons, Robert Hutton Brown, III (Melissa) and David Caulkins Brown (Andra) and her four grandchildren; Emma Caulkins Brown, Lucille Middleton Brown, Benjamin Rodes Brown and Lillian Jeanette Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Hutton Brown, Jr. and her brother Wilford (“Billy”) Caulkins.

The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude for the women who cared for Brownie in her final years including, Sheila Glover, Diana Leslie, and Cheryl Buell. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Pulaski c/o 202 S 2nd St, Pulaski, TN 38478 or the Giles County Public Library c/o 122 S 2nd St, Pulaski, TN 38478.

The visitation will be 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock Tuesday, January 15th, 2019, at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.

The funeral service will be 11:00am Wednesday, January 16th, 2019, at the First Presbyterian Church of Pulaski, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall. There will be a private burial at the family plot in Fayetteville.

Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements for Helen (“Brownie”) Caulkins Brown.
