Funeral services for Mrs. Helen Brown, age 79 of Goodwater, were held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Victory Baptist Church in Goodwater with Bro. Duncan Campbell, Bro. John Watkins and Bro. Tim Hughes officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.
Mrs. Brown passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Brown was born in Sylacauga, and after graduating from BB Comer High School, spent the majority of her life as a wife and homemaker. She traveled with her husband, Rev. Aubrey Brown, as he preached in numerous churches, including Ballplay, Alabama, Harlington, TX, and finally settling down in Goodwater. She loved her church, and enjoyed teaching children in Sunday school. Mrs. Brown was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Goodwater.
She is survived by two sons: Timmy Gene Brown (Sharon) of Sylacauga and Rodney Lang Brown (Michelle) of Hollins, two sisters: Crocket White (Skeet) of Snellville, GA and Alice Harrison (Bill) of Ringold, GA, two brothers, Jud Burton (Lynn) of Stone Mountain, GA and Mack Burton (Patsy) of Maryland, seven grandchildren: Christopher Brown (Ursula), Stephanie Reeves (Brent) Brittany Watson, Bryan Brown (Maranda), Baxter Brown (Hannah), Bradley Brown (Gracie) and Sharon Pike, 12 great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Ira Burton, Sr. and Sadie Mae Mims Burton, her husband, Rev. Aubrey Brown, her son, Virgil Bryan Brown, her sister, Sarah Maddox, and three brothers: Billy Jack, Archie Jr., and Sammy Burton.
Active pallbearers were: Christopher Brown, Bryan Brown, Baxter Brown, Bradley Brown, Jonathan Brown, Jordan Brown and Brent Reeves.
Her great-grandsons served as honorary pallbearers.
Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville is in charge of the arrangements.
