Obituary of Hazel Mae Ford Hazel Mae Ford, 75, of Iuka, Mississippi passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. She was born July 2, 1949 to the late Roscoe and Bessie Smith Mask in Kossuth, Mississippi. Hazel was a woman of deep faith, immense kindness, and simple joys, touched by the love of her family and the beauty of nature.

Hazel spent her life creating a home full of warmth and laughter. She retired from Tishomingo Healthcare Center, where she dedicated herself to caring for others with the same compassion she showed her family. Among her many joys were spending time outdoors, whether it was fishing by the water, watching the hummingbirds flit by her front door, or visiting the zoo, where she marveled at the animals. Hazel also enjoyed watching the Kentucky Derby.

She was a devoted animal lover, with her beloved dog “Trixie” by her side for many years before Trixie’s passing. Her current companion “Nemo”, brought her much joy in her later years, and she always found comfort in his presence.

Hazel was a proud mother of two sons, Johnny Justice (Gloria) and Jimmy Patterson. She loved letting everyone know about her grand, great, and great-great grandchildren. Her heart was full of love for her grandchildren; Kalvin Patterson, Amanda Griggs, John Justice (Jennifer), Nick McDaniel (Kristen), and Brittany Lawson (Levi). Hazel’s joy extended to her great grandchildren; Mila Lawson, Maverick Lawson, Whitney McDaniel, Ayden Griggs, Luke Griggs, Madison Justice, Kinsley Justice, Karlie Justice, Kolton Justice, Makenzi Reed (Dominique), Anna Brooke rogers, and Emillie Patterson. Her family grew even further with the arrival of her great-great granddaughter, Aurora Reed, and one more on the way.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter, grand daughter Whitney LeeAnn McDaniel, and her loyal dog “Trixie”.

Her family and friends will remember her for her generous spirit, her love of nature, and her unwavering devotion to those she held dear. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will live on the hearts of all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Hazel’s life and impact she had on so many. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local animal shelter in her memory. May Hazel rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of nature she so loved.

The family has entrusted the care of the arrangements with McPeters Funeral Directors in Corinth, Mississippi.
