Mrs. Hazel Gifford, age 91, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012 after a brief illness in Hernando, Mississippi.
Mrs. Gifford had been a long-time resident of Florence where she lived with her late husband James M. Gifford. She moved to Hernando in 2006 to be near her son and his family. She was a member of the Florence Boulevard Church of Christ.
During her 91 years, she enjoyed crocheting and playing dominoes and family members knew not to interrupt an Alabama football game or a Braves baseball game.
The visitation for family and friends will be at Elkins Funeral Home Saturday beginning at 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Kelby Smith and Keith Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Florence Cemetery.
Mrs. Gifford is survived by her son Joe Gifford and wife Gloria of Hernando, MS; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister Bobbie Hunt and husband Bobby of Gardendale, AL; a brother James Howell and wife Helen of Jemison, Al; a special niece Dale Gifford of Florence and other nieces and nephews.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
