Hazel Blanch Smith – Obituary

Hazel Blanch Smith was born April 25, 1941 in Bolivar, TN the daughter of the late Clyde and Eva Cathrine Richie Rutledge.

She was united in marriage to Stanley Smith on October 17, 1987.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. She loved to sing at church and read her Bible. She collected books on ancestry and was related to the Rutledge brothers who signed the Declaration of Independence. She was also a distant relative of Davy Crockett. Mrs. Smith loved sewing, shopping and attending yard sales. She loved her husband, her new church, and family diligently.

Mrs. Smith departed this life on September 11, 2012 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 71 Years, 4 Months, 17 Days.

She is survived by her husband Stanley Smith of Selmer, TN; two sons, Bobby Thurmond and wife Deirdre of Michie, TN, Ricky Thurmond and wife Margie of Ramer, TN; a daughter, Teri Jones and husband Jere of Walnut Ridge, AR; a sister, Ruby Weaver of Horn Lake, MS; a brother, Edward Fawcett of Sanford, NC; 14 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren. A host of extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs Smith was preceded in death by a sister, Earnestine Brown; two brothers, George Fawcett, Ken Rutledge
