Haywood Moore, formerly of Toney, AL, passed away on June 9, 2016 in Escondido, CA. He attended Councill Training School and received his master’s degree from Alabama A&M University, Normal, AL, where he met his beloved wife of 35 years, Bettye J. Moore until her untimely death in 2003.
In his younger years he was introduced to Bible truth and dedicated and lived his life consistent with Bible-based knowledge. He enjoyed studying and researching the scriptures for Bible based discussions of Jehovah God.
Mr. Moore enjoyed nature and amateur photography. He also was a skilled carpenter and built several items for his family, a skill he learned from his father. His hobbies included building and flying model airplanes, hula hooping, dancing and making people laugh.
His career included services in the military; employment in the Huntsville City School System, IBM Corporation, Tennessee Valley Authority (Brown’s Ferry and Chattanooga), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and San Diego County Water Authority.
After his retirement from SDCWA in 2006, Haywood developed a love of travel to Italy and Hawaii.
Haywood leaves to cherish his memories and to continue in his footsteps: his daughter, Rosalind Lezzette Wakefield; grandchildren, Brock Alexander, Christopher Jordan, Christian Armani and Bethany Morgan Wakefield; four sisters, Geneva Benson, Minnie P. Moore, Alberdia (James) Turner and Everlene (Tourence, aka Moe) Tucker; brother, John E. Moore; nieces, Gwendolyn Lytle, Angie Jones and Wendy (Alex) Olmeda; nephews, Fidel Lytle, Anthony Lytle, Antonio Moore, Reuben (Domonique) Turner and Reggie Brazelton; along with a host of extended family, friends, co-workers and classmates.
What a gift to have had him in our lives! We will miss his gentle manner, sharp mind, quick wit, smile and that laugh!
Funeral service was held at 5:30 p.m., Friday, June 17, 2016 at the McLeod Mortuary in Escondido, California.
Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2016 at the Royal Chapel of Memories, Huntsville AL. Interment will be in Seay Crutcher Cemetery, Toney, AL.
