Mother Hattie M. Clemons Brown, 86, of Huntsville, Alabama was the daughter of the late Gloria and Willie Clemons. She was the oldest of 8 children. In the early 60’s she married Otha Ray Brown (deceased) in Madison County.
Hattie made it to the 12th grade. She left home for a short time to pursue education in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she resided with her aunt and uncle.
Hattie worked for Huntsville High School Food Service. She also was a private sitter/companion, as well as a housekeeper. She worked two jobs, to care for her family.
Hattie was preceded in death by: her husband, Otha Ray Brown; parents, Willie and Gloria Clemons; sister Etta Malone; brothers, Donnie Clemons and “Bobby” Ray Clemons of Huntsville, Alabama.
She is survived by her two sons; Billy R. Brown and Tony V. Brown; one daughter; Sharon D. Brown all of Huntsville, AL; three grandchildren: Sharona D. Brown, Huntsville, AL, Shahara L. Brown, Huntsville, AL, and Shanice Y. Brown, Madison, AL; three sisters; Dasie C. Miller, Gloria Jean Miller, Elois (Emmett) Smart of Huntsville, AL; one brother; Willie (Sharon) Clemons, Jr.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the Big Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church (133 Maple Street, Madison, AL 35758) with Pastor Jeffery Jefferson officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Memorial Gardens. Mother Brown will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023, and 9:00 until 9:30 a.m., Sunday, October 1, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
