Mr. Harvey Martin Vaughn Sr., age 91, of Arab, Alabama passed away peacefully at his home on July 11, 2023. Mr. Vaughn was born on May 9, 1932 to the late Jay and Mattie Mae Vaughn. He retired from the Arab Electric Cooperative after 29 years. He was a member of Union Hill FCM Church, serving as a deacon for 23 years until his health no longer allowed him to. He was a selfless and loving husband, father and Papa. He loved his family more than life. The only thing he loved more than his family was God. He was a shining example of Christ’s love in the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Mattie Mae Vaughn; brothers, Junior Vaughn, Larry Glen Vaughn, Curtis Vaughn and Bobby Vaughn; sisters, Louise Pierce, Lola Owens, Polly Sortors, Faye Tucker, Joan Wallace; and son-in-law, Jerry Motte.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Naomi Troup Vaughn; son, Marty (Deb) Vaughn; daughter, Mona Motte; sister, Ann Rainwater; grandchildren, Heather (Michael) Mitchell, Josh Vaughn, Lindy Vaughn, Jeremy (Sophie) Motte, Jacob (Lori) Motte, and Nathan (Krista) Motte; 17 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and several other special family members and friends.
Services for Mr. Vaughn will be held at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on Friday, July 14, 2023. Visitation will be between the hours of 12:00 noon and 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Arab Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers escorting Mr. Vaughn to his final resting place will be Josh Vaughn, Jeremy Motte, Jacob Motte, Nathan Motte, Michael Mitchell, Forrest Whitehead, and Blake Anders. Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Union Hill FCM Church.
