Mr. Harvey Lawrence Bradford, age 83, of Vernon, AL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at home, under the care of Hospice of West Alabama.
Harvey was born February 5, 1940, in Memphis, TN, to the late H.O. “Buster” and Clyde Bradford. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 59 years, Jackie Oakes Bradford, and two brothers, Owen (Bettye) Bradford and Larry Bradford.
He was employed as a driver for Tom’s Snacks and was a business owner for most of his life. Harvey and his late wife, Jackie, along with their children, owned and operated the Crossville Softball fields that people still fondly remember today. His favorite hobbies were spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren & great-grands, watching Alabama softball, betting on college football, and working in his yard.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 28, from 10:00-12:00 PM, in the visitation parlor at Chandler Funeral Home. There will be no formal funeral service scheduled. He will rest beside his late wife Jackie at Oakes Chapel cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his nephews Michael Kraemer and Chris Kraemer, and his grandsons Todd Cantrell, Tucker Cantrell, and Kyle Lucas.
Survivors include his three children, Debra (David) Lann, James Bradford, and Teresa (Tim) Cantrell, all of Vernon, AL; seven grandchildren, Joey (Alisha) Lann of Vernon, AL, Kandi (Michael) Robinson of Vernon, AL, Coby (Jordan) Bradford of Millport, AL, Toshia (Kyle) Lucas of Vernon, AL, Todd (Jana) Cantrell of Vernon, AL, Tucker (Katie) Cantrell of Vernon, AL, and Coy King of Sulligent, AL; 14 great-grandchildren, Nathan Brown, Laura Beth Lann, Cooper Lann, Kylee Lann, Kynlee Brooke Robinson, Steeler Bradford, Beckham Bradford, Grey Bradford, Asher Lucas, Abygail Lucas, Ansley Jo Cantrell, Avery Cantrell, Jake Cantrell, and Jackson Cantrell; three sisters, Carol (John) Kraemer, Betty Ann Bennett and Joyce Markham; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his pet cat named Killer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Oakes Chapel Church General Fund, 335 Oakes Chapel Drive, Vernon, AL 35592.
