Harvey Franklin Midkiff, of Madison, A, age 95, went to be with our Lord on 25 September 2024.  He was born in Salt Rock, West Virginia on 26 October,1928 to Elmer “Jum” and Elizabeth Bills Midkiff.  He was the eldest of eleven children. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Juanita Auer Midkiff; four brothers: Glen, Hampton, David and Richard; and five sisters:Glenna, Violet, Beatrice, Roma and Sarah.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann Midkiff; brother, Jerry Midkiff, Salt Rock, West Virginia; daughters, Elizabeth Ledger Cecilia Grosselin (Ken); son, Raymond Midkiff (Tammy); seven grandchildren: Alex (Katie) and Rachel Ledger, Kenneth (Collette), Karl (Lauren) and Kyle Grosselin, Kristina Cameron (Jonathan) and Rae Randolph (Trey), and eight great-grandchildren: Reagan, Kenneth, William, Alice, Emily, Claire, Holly and Archie.  He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

A proud veteran, he loved his country and served for over 28 years, first in the U.S. Army Air Corps and later the U.S. Air Force.  His assignments took him to many places, including two overseas tours in the Philippines, with his final assignment at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.  Harvey was involved in the early days of Aerospace Medicine and instrumental in growing and improving the U.S. Air Force Nuclear Medicine program.  A long-time resident of San Antonio, he moved to Madison, AL in 2007.

Harvey was a devout Catholic, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a dedicated supporter of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.  The church was an important part of his life.

A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, 7 October, 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Madison, AL.  On Monday 4 November, visitation and a Rosary will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Castle Ridge Mortuary, San Antonio, TX.  Following a 9:00 AM Mass at Resurrection of The Lord Catholic Church in San Antonio, burial services will be held at 11:00 AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX.
