Harvey Eugene “Gene” Willey, age 83, of Lawrenceburg, TN passed away Wednesday, March 06, 2024, at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, TN. He was a native of Grayson County, VA, retired from Union Carbide, a member of the Archaeological Society, and Collegevue Church of Christ in Columbia, TN. Gene enjoyed metal detection and was an avid collector of relics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman C. and Mae Young Willey; one son, Andrew Eugene Willey; one brother, Larry Jackson Willey; sister-in-law, Evelyne Box Willey; nephews, Mark Willey and Mike Willey; and best friends, Herb Mosley, Ruby Mosley, and Jeff Mosley.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sue Ann Legg Willey of Lawrenceburg, TN; two daughters, Leigh Ann Willey of Columbia, TN, and Paula Beth Willey Adams (Kevin) of Burns, TN; and two granddaughters, Chaney Annaleigh Adams and Emmeline Corinne Adams.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday, March 09, 2024, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 09, 2024, with Greg Gwin officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN. The family suggests memorials be made to David Crockett State Park to honor his love for wildlife and conservation.
