Harvey Dean Pendergrast – Obituary

PendergrastHarvey Dean Pendergrast, 56, of Tuscumbia, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8 PM at Colbert Memorial Chapel. The service will be Monday at 11 AM at the funeral home chapel followed by a private burial with Brother Shane Swinney officiating.

Mr. Pendergrast was a native of Memphis, Tennessee, but resided in Tuscumbia for most of his life. He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Melton Pendergrast Jr. brother Andy Holland, sister June Mary Walden. Dean is survived by his wife Melissa of 30 years, daughter Tiffany (Corey) Hutcheson, son Thomas(Rachel) Pendergrast, mother Bettye June Pendergrast, sisters Patty Ann Miles, Kayleen (Tim) Harrison, Shelia ( Gary ) Holland Holden, Brothers Harold and Mike Pendergrast, three Grandsons Ethan and Conner Pendergrast, Layken Hutcheson, granddaughter Chloe Pendergrast and many loving nieces and nephews and extended family.

Dean was as a loving husband, father, son ,brother, papa, uncle and friend to many. He proudly served in the National Guard with the 115th Signal Battalion for 15 years Melissa was the love of his life. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Dean never met a stranger and was a very giving man. He was always willing to do anything for anybody. He had a larger than life attitude and a demeanor that left you wanting more. His love for Alabama football, dancing to classic rock ,telling stories and his witty humor are just a touch of the many great things his family and friends will miss so much.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Pendergrast, Kyle Pendergrast, Michael Pendergrast. Kevin Stringer, Justin Stringer, and Josh Hamm. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Lynn Ridgeway , Steve Stringer , Corey Hutcheson, Tom Fillio, Thomas Pulliam, Zack Lier, and Adam Liles.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this time. Special thank you to Keller EMS, Helen Keller ER Staff, the respiratory department and the ICU Staff for taking such good care of Dean
