Harry James Dorris, age 77 of White House passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville after a brief illness. He was born October 2, 1946 in Tipton, Indiana to Paul Everett and Anna Inez Morris Dorris. He was the owner and operator of Harry’s Towing Service for more than 12 years and was a mechanic. He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons. He prided himself in keeping a well -manicured lawn with beautiful flowers, as well as raising many delicious garden vegetables. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Peggy Turman. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Maria Dorris, White House, TN; daughters, Paula (Kip) Mayton, Bell Buckle, TN and Sheliah (Ricky) Parrish, Greenbrier, TN; sons, Michael (Dee) Dorris, Buchanan, TN, Kenny (Gretchen) Dorris, Bowling Green, KY, Jamie (Michelle) Dorris, Guthrie, KY and Scotty (Sonya) Dorris, Portland, TN; brothers, Larry (Faye) Dorris, Brunswick, GA, Richard (Teresa) Dorris and Garry (Lucy) Dorris, both of White House, TN; sister, Pam Dorris, White House, TN; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. There are no funeral services planned for Mr. Dorris. The family is planning a private family celebration of his life.
