Harry Alexander Chaffee – Obituary

Harry Alexander Chaffee joined his Savior on January 13, 2016 after losing a valiant fight with brain cancer. He was a loving, devoted husband, father, and brother.

Harry was born on September 24,1952 in Michigan and moved to Huntsville as a young boy. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from UAH and his PhD in medieval literature from Florida State University. He was a professor for several years before pursuing graduate studies in business administration. For the majority of his professional career, he worked as a contracts administrator for TBE.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Toland Chaffee; two children, Sarah Ruth Chaffee and Joseph Raymond Chaffee; two sisters, Nonda Sloan and Cecilia Bruton (Roy); one brother, Guy Chaffee (Sharon); seven nieces and four nephews; seven great-nieces and seven grand-nephews; and numerous cousins.

Visitation and Prayer Service will be held Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at the church Monday at 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clearview Cancer Institute in Huntsville, United Cerebral Palsy, or a charity of your choice.
