Harris Wayne Coble Profile Photo  Harris Wayne Coble, a dedicated employee of the Dana Corporation in Humboldt, TN, passed away peacefully on Monday at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital at the age 81.

Harris was born on May 12, 1943, in Humboldt, TN, the son of the late Harris Mays and Dorothy Marie Bass Coble.  Throughout his life, he touched the hearts of many with his warm personality and passion for music and community service. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, showcasing his bravery and commitment to his country.

Outside of his professional life, Harris found joy and solace in various hobbies such as playing the guitar, participating in the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star activities, and most notably, being an active member of Gibson Baptist Church. His dedication to the church shone through as he served as a deacon and lent his melodious voice to the church choir.

Harris will be deeply missed by his surviving family members and friends. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Coble of Humboldt, TN; daughter Tonya Jones of Jackson, TN; son, Tim Swafford and daughter-in-law April of Gibson; TN; son, Dennis Swafford of Gibson, TN; brother, James Harold Coble and sister-in-law Diana of Sardis, MS; sister Jean Hinson of Humboldt TN; sister, Elaine Primo and brother-in-law John of Covington TN; sister, Linda McMinn of Medina, TN; grandchildren, Daegan Jones, Levin Jones, Jenny Bryant, Christy Swafford Whallin, Shayna Swafford, Hunter Kimery; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Annette Cole and her husband Billy.

A visitation honoring the life of Harris Wayne Coble will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, beginning at 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Arrington Funeral Directors.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Gibson Baptist Church 302 Highway 79 North Gibson, TN  38338, with Rev. Steve Littleton officiating.

Burial with Military Honors will follow the service at 1:30 p.m. at the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads in Wildersville, TN

The family is requesting that memorial contributions be directed to Heaven’s Cradle, c/o Community Foundation of West Tennessee, 74 Directors Row, Jackson, TN 38305 or online at www.heavenscradle.org or the Vietnam Veteran Association #995, 141 New Deal Road, Jackson, TN 38305.

Harris’ legacy as a devoted family man, loyal friend, and cherished community member will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege to know him. He is forever in our hearts.
