Ray Cox Harold Ray Cox, 90 of Arab passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Ray was born November 22, 1932 in Arab, the youngest son of James Lawrence Cox and Cora Lee Solley Cox. He was a graduate of Arab High School, Class of 1951. He married Sara Jo “Sally” McDonald Cox on June 6, 1952 and was married for 62 years at the time of her passing November 2, 2014. He was honorably discharged from the United States Airforce and spent his career working for the Brindlee Mountain Telephone Company. Ray was a devoted Christian and lifetime member of the Arab First Baptist Church, in which he was a deacon emeritus and found much joy in serving there.

He was proud of his family, leaving behind three sons: James Leighton “Jimmy” Cox, Harold “Lee” Cox (Jana), and Joseph Ray” Joe” Cox; grandchildren: Erin Cox Chausse (Daniel), Jackson Montgomery Cox, Cory Lee Cox, Rachel Brooke Morrow (Ricky), Christopher Lee Cox (Mary Grace), Heather Nicole Cordell, Jeri Lynn Cordell, Sarah Catherine Halligan (Levi), Sara Reynolds Cox, and David Lawrence Cox; great-grandchildren: Dylan Lee Morrow, Raylee Brooke Morrow, Roman Lee Chausse, Gabriel Patrick Chausse, and Lillian Taylor Chausse. He was preceded in death by his wife: Sally Cox and a brother James Eugene “Gene” Cox.

Ray was a man of character; he lived his life with unwavering faith and dedicated himself to spreading the good news of salvation to all those around him. He cherished his time spent with family and friends. Through his love and kindness, Ray’s legacy will continue to live on through the countless lives he impacted. We honor and remember Ray for his commitment to Christ and his unwavering devotion to his loved ones; His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory lives on in the hearts of those he touched. Rest in peace, Ray.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the Arab First Baptist Church with Matt Chance and Randy Evers officiating. The burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel directing. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Gober Funeral Chapel. His grandsons will be serving as pallbearers.
