Harold Lloyd Lane Harold Lloyd Lane, 92, died of natural causes on Monday, August 3, 2020, at Floyd E. “Tut” Fann State Veterans Home in Huntsville, AL.

He was known as an especially kind person who tried to do his duty and to do what was right. He enjoyed his time hunting and fishing particularly in the West Virginia mountains and was fond of telling about growing up there in a family of 10 people. He remained close to his siblings all his life.

Harold was born on April 21, 1928, in Webster County, West Virginia. A 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, he served during the occupation of WW II, the Korean War, the Cold War, and the Vietnam War. Among his foreign posts were Germany and Vietnam. He was married to the former Betty Jean Bennett of Webster County, WV, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his son, Robert Lane and Robert’s companion, Emily Vandiver of Huntsville, AL; his grandson. Harrison Lane of Huntsville, AL; his sisters, Carol Jackson and Sharon Kay Poe both of Elkins, WV; his brother-in-law, Charles Paul of Clemmons, NC; sister-in-law, Sue Cooper Lane of Veto, OH; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Burton Lane and Vannie Bell Canfield Lane, and his siblings, Homer Burton Lane, Jr., Athlea Lane, Gerald Lane, Alene Lane Paul, and Richard “Dick” Lane.

After a private service in Huntsville, he will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, DC, where he will lie alongside his wife of more than 60 years overlooking the U.S. Air Force Memorial.
