Mr. Harold Lavon "Von" Childress Harold Lavon “Von” Childress, 74, of Asbury, Alabama, passed away April 25, 2024, at his residence. He was born on December 28, 1949, to the late Woodrow and Eva Dan Childress. Von worked at Reeves Rubber in Albertville for 34 years and served in the National Guard. He loved working with mules and horses and watching western shows and movies. Von loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Asbury Methodist Church.
Von is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kathy Evers Childress, daughters by love, Jessica (Greg) Wilson, Merideth (Steven) Miller, and Valerie (Jason) Garrett, son, Joey (Amy) Childress, and daughter, Jaime (Brandon) Wordlaw; grandchildren, Alyson (Tommy) Gasparolo, Michael Miller (Kiley Spain), Cole Garrett, Blakeley Davidson (Chase Kermondy), Caroline Clay, Kathryn Garrett, John Patrick Clay, honorary grandson: Will Walters, and Hannah Brooks; awaited great-granddaughter, Kollins Grace Kermondy, and great-granddaughter, Ava Clae Garrison. He is also survived by his brother, Perry (Gloria) Childress; sisters-in-law, Jeannie (Larry) Roden, and Pam (Roger) Jolley, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Eva Dan Childress, and brother, Donzell Childress.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Asbury Methodist Church with Bro. Joseph Abbott, Bro. Mike Keeble, and Bro. Tommy Mashburn will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers assisting Mr. Childress to the adjoining cemetery will include, Cole Garrett, Tommy Gasparolo, Brody Jones, Chase Kermondy, Michael Miller, Will Walters, and honorary pallbearer, John Patrick Clay.
