Harold Kenneth Turner, 91, of passed away on June 23, 2024, in Harvest, Alabama.

Ken, as he was known to his friends, was a native of Hazard, Kentucky. After graduating from Hazard High School, he attended the University of Kentucky School of Engineering. Graduating in 1956, he was stationed with the Army at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. Ken was always grateful that upon discharge in 1959, he was hired at the Marshall Space Flight Center, working at the test stand in the Saturn rocket booster program. He spent the latter part of his career in program planning and retired in 1994.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Purvis Turner; his parents, Charles D. and Oma Bowling Turner of Hazard, Kentucky; sister, Marjorie; and brothers, Bob, Andrew, Darrell, and Piercy Turner.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to Clearview Cancer Treatment Center, Dr. Daniel Schreeder, and Hospice of North Alabama for their care and kindness during Ken’s illness.

No services are planned at this time. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes, P.O. Box 361767, Birmingham, Alabama 35236-1767.
