Harold Gene Herring, age 95, of Russellville, Alabama passed away October 8, 2023. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea, retired from TVA Construction and was an avid farmer.
Mr. Herring was born March 10, 1928 in Franklin County, Alabama to Fred and Vivian Herring. He was preceded in death by his wife Sarah Smith Herring, his parents, his sisters Frances Williams, Mable Rogers and Catherine Jenkins and brothers Gerald and Donald Herring.
He is survived by his son, David Harold Herring; daughter-in-law, Eyvonne DeFoor Herring; granddaughters, Julie Herring McKinney (Mitch) and Jennifer Herring Young (Bradley); great-grandsons, Coleman Edward Young and Wyatt Smith McKinney; sister, Carolyn Epperson (Jody); many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from 1-2pm. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Russellville, Alabama. Pallbearers will be Mitch McKinney, Bradley Young, Coleman Young, Jimmy DeFoor, Greg Epperson and Tommy Freeman. Honorary pallbearer is Myron Herring.
