Harold Frederick Kilgo, Jr., age 86 of Fort Payne, AL passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Kilgo was born on October 27, 1936 to the late Harold, Sr. & Helen Johnson Kilgo in Giles County, Tennessee. He was an integral member of the Huntsville-based Space Program that put the first man on the moon. He retired as President of the Gas House and was an Academic Instructor of the Jerusalem Institute for Biblical Exploration. His greatest joy was going to Israel where he participated in archaeological digs where his ashes will be scattered over the Sea of Galilee.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Joyce Hillhouse Kilgo; children, Karen (Pat) Lynch and Alan (Aimee) Kilgo; sister & brother-in-law, Kathy (Jack) Calvert; grandchildren, Ashton (Brooke) Jones, Ethan (Payton) Kilgo, Lucas (Hannah) Bryant, and Caleb Kilgo; and great-grandchildren, Hayden Dewees, Payton Dewees, Keeton Jones, Daxton Jones, Rowan Jahner, and Collins Marie Bryant.
