Harold Dean “Gator” Bethune

Harold Dean “Gator” Bethune, 85 of Iuka, MS passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020 at Tishomingo Manor Nursing Home. In his earlier years, Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to auctions and drinking coffee with friends. He was a butcher and a commercial fisherman. Harold was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church. Harold is survived by his wife of 68 years, Willa Dean Edmondson Bethune; his children, Jane Brown of Iuka, Donna Weston (James) of Shelbyville, TN, and David Bethune of Michie, TN;  his grandchildren, Jamie Bethune (Tuesday) of New Albany, IN, April McClurkan (Kevin) of Bell Buckle, TN, and Micah Brown of Iuka; and great grandchilden, Makenah. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Beulah Bethune; and eight brothers and sisters. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. A private family service will be held on Monday, May 11, 2020, officiated by Bro. Tony Curtis. In lieu of flowers, to honor Harold’s wishes, donations may be made to Fifth Street Baptist Church, 610 West 5th Street, Iuka, MS 38852.
