Untitled-1MADISON-On August 19, 2016 the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, as well as other local law enforcement agencies surrounding northern Alabama will participate in its annual Multi-state “Hands Across The Border” to promote the “Drunk Driving, Over the Limit, Under Arrest” campaign. This will reinforce the importance of safety for all motorists. Alabama law enforcement officers will join state and local agencies from the State of Tennessee in an impaired driving enforcement initiative to promote safety awareness. In addition to DUI’s, other traffic offenses are being targeted by the campaign. Law Enforcement will be keeping an eye out for distracted drivers and motorists without seatbelts, drivers operating a vehicle without state required insurance, suspended driver’s licenses, fugitives, and individuals with outstanding warrants.   Later that night, Law Enforcement Officers will position a Traffic Checkpoint northbound and southbound at the Alabama/Tennessee Stateline.
