Haleyville Man Dies In Single-Vehicle Accident While Fleeing From Law Enforcement

HALEYVILLE-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident that has taken the life of one person as they were attempting to flee from law enforcement:

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 1:50 a.m. Friday, May 3, has claimed the life of a Haleyville man.

Joshua H. Cosby, 35, was critically injured when the 1999 Toyota Tacoma he was driving left the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned. Cosby was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash. Cosby was transported to Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

Cosby was attempting to elude a Haleyville Police Officer at the time of the crash. The crash occurred on Marion County 62 near Slaughter Pen Road, approximately one mile north of Haleyville, in Marion County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
