In our sorrow, we rejoice as Griffitha Glasser Cook has entered her heavenly home. On February 24, 2023 her time on earth came to a close yet her time in eternity has just begun.
Griffie was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 1, 1943. She attended Vanderbilt University where she met her sweetheart and husband of 59 years. Living in Columbia, she poured her heart into the lives of her family, friends and community. She was a founding member of the Zion Christian Academy Foundation Board and served on the board of The James K. Polk Memorial Association. She also was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church and The Volunteer Garden Club. Many were the recipients of her generous spirit, gracious presence, spunk and faith in the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jane Harsh Glasser and John Lapsley Glasser. She is survived by her husband H. Terry Cook, Jr., daughters Mary Jane Parks (Jim) of Columbia and Graham Bryant (Ken) of Nashville, and sister Mary Jane Arendale (Rick) of Nashville. She also leaves behind four granddaughters Mary Griffith Adams, Elizabeth Manning Adams, Elizabeth Foster Parks and Katherine Cook Adams.
The funeral service celebrating Griffie’s life will be held at Zion Presbyterian Church, 2322 Zion Road, Columbia, TN 38401 on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. Oakes & Nichols Funeral Directors are assisting the family with arrangements.
