Gregory “Greg” Scott Drummond, age 66, of Oxford passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, May 17, 2024 surrounded by close friends and family. Greg was born on July 21, 1957 in Anniston, AL to Jim and Anita Drummond. He was a veteran of the US Army, a retired Police Officer with the Oxford Police Department, and also served for many years as the Resident Shotgun Expert for the Civilian’s Marksmanship Program (CMP) in Talladega, AL. In 2015, Greg brought home the National Title in the A Class Division for the National Sporting Clays Association’s (NSCA) National Championship in San Antonio, Texas where he was quoted as saying of his win, “not bad for an old guy”. Greg has been shooting competitively since 1992 and was also a two-time Alabama State Champion.
Greg is proceeded in death by his mother Anita Drummond, and survived by his wife Cindy Drummond, children Heath Drummond (Tayler), Shane Drummond, Jayson Rouse (Stephanie), Jordan Rouse (Andrea), Grandchildren Abi Rouse Rollins (Hunter), Maddox Drummond, Jase Drummond, Jax Drummond, Kori Drummond, Jaylee Rouse, Adalyn (Momo) Rouse, Riley Rouse, and Addy Pushnig, Sister Angie Drummond Linn, Sue Drummond McDonald (Steve), Sister-in-laws Kimberly Smith, Kendra Taylor (Jamie), Shandra Mintz, Father and Mother-in-law Doyle and Charlotte Grizzard, Father Jim Drummond, special cousins Gerald and Rod Hulbert, special lifelong friends Cooper Freeman and Larry McCormick, and many special nieces and nephews.
Greg was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed enjoyed life to the fullest, loved his family, and especially his grandchildren. He loved his fur babies and just after he passed his buddy Hemmingway Gunny Drummond joined him. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
