Gregory Allen Hayse, better known as “Slim” by family and friends, departed this earthly pilgrimage in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 20, 2024 from Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended time of declining health. He was 66 years old. Slim was born on January 14, 1958 in Tupelo to the late Bobby Eugene and Shelby Waldrop Hayse. He spent his entire life here, graduating from Tupelo High School in 1976. He spent the last 20-plus years of his life working for Quality Coatings in Tupelo as a paint technician. A simple man with a steely determination, Slim loved sitting on his porch drinking coffee, visiting with his sons and grandchildren, playing cards, and watching Westerns especially John Wayne movies.

There are no formal services scheduled at this time. Any future service will be announced by Holland Funeral Directors, who are honored to serve their friends. Expressions of sympathy may be posted on Slim’s memorial page at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Obits.

Greg is survived by his wife, Debbie Hayse, to whom he was married on Oct. 13, 1978; his four sons, Shawn Little (Heather) of Tupelo, Jeremy Hayse of Saltillo, Chris Hayse (Jennifer) of Saltillo, and Benji Hayse (Stephanie) of Mooreville; Pop’s beloved eight grandchildren, Austin Parker and Josh, Katelynn, Peyton, Cole, Chase, Jackson and River Hayse; and his sister, Debra Brown (Kevin) of Fulton. He was preceded in death by his parents Bobby and Shelby Hayse, and a brother, Donny Hayse.

The family expresses gratitude to the staff at Sanctuary Hospice House for their love and care in their Dad’s last days and wishes for those who want to express their love to send memorials to Sanctuary Hospice House, P. O. Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803.
