THE SHOALS-On Wednesday, September 4, at 9:30 am at McFarland Park in Florence, five local school districts received a wonderful gift  from the Greenway Automotive dealerships: Seven automobiles were given to the schools for immediate use in their Driver Education classes.

Two vehicles were to the Colbert County School System as well as two vehicles  to the Lauderdale County School System.  One vehicle was given to the Florence City School System, one vehicle was given to the Muscle Shoals City School System and one vehicle was given to the Tuscumbia City Schools.

The vehicles, which include cars from Chevrolet, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, and Kia, are valued in excess of $105,000 and are being given, 100%, to the schools.

One Driver Education instructor shared a very special benefit of receiving the vehicle for his school this year. He commented that he has a student with a disability and the special needs of this student require a Driver Education vehicle with hand controls for braking and accelerating since the student cannot use their feet for this purpose. One of the vehicles was earmarked for this special upgrade, an upgrade that would not be possible on the older vehicles in the Driver Education program.

Superintendents from the School Districts, along with Greenway management, members of the press and invited guests were on hand at  McFarland Park on Wednesday, September 4, at 9:30 am for the official presentation of the vehicles.

Greenway of the Shoals operates 7 local dealerships with 12 automotive brands:
