Granville GravesGranville Graves, lovingly known as “GG”, 82, of Decatur, AL, passed peacefully at his home
on May 9 th , 2023. Visitation will be held at Shelton Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 10 th
from 6:00 to 7:30 PM with a service to follow at 7:45 PM with Dr. Chuck Ellioitt and Steve Smith officiating. A Graveside service will be held at 9:00AM on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Decatur City Cemetery.
Granville was born on November 17 th , 1940, to Robert and Marion Graves in Nashville, TN. He
was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Graves;
his three children, Kirk (Sissy) Graves, Kristen Graves, and Alicia Higginbotham; Seven
grandchildren, Seth Graves, Connor Graves, Mary Frances Graves, Anna Kate (Cooper)
Jackson, Mary Grace Graves, Olivia Higginbotham, and Ellie Higginbotham; and one great grandson
Owen Jackson; Siblings, Baxter (Rita) Graves, Norman Graves, Martha (Bruce) Lewis.
Granville graduated from Joelton High School, then went on to study business administration at
David Lipscomb University. After graduation, he started his career at Central Bank. He later
became a licensed real estate agent, licensed broker, and a member of Morgan County Board
of Realtors, selling properties all around the city. He was also an active insurance salesman for
many years. After retiring, he enjoyed driving a school bus and being with his grandchildren.
Granville served as the preacher of Mooresville Church of Christ in Mooresville, AL for many
years before becoming an Elder at Beltline Church of Christ. Granville loved the Lord and
shared his love for Jesus with anyone who would listen. He loved visiting the sick or anyone in need.
Granville was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a kind and gentle man of
integrity that loved unconditionally.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mooresville Church of Christ
building restoration efforts payable to Mooresville Church of Christ PO BOX 12 Mooresville, AL 35649, or the Mike Nix Scholarship Fund payable to Beltline Church of Christ.
