Grace Whitmire, 94, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will follow at 3:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home with Tim Sutton officiating. She will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitmire is survived by her daughter, Beth McCaleb and husband John; son, Harold Whitmire and wife Cindy; 4 grandchildren, Jesse Houston McCaleb, Tommy McMeans, Zoë Whitmire and Tucker Whitmire and 2 great grandchildren, Molly and Lucy McCaleb.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Whitmire and granddaughter, Mary Ann Landers.
Mrs. Whitmire was a lifelong member of Somerville Road Church of Christ. She was a homemaker, office manager and a telephone operator for BellSouth. Mrs. Whitmire also owned the clothing shop, My Favorite Things. She lived one day short of her 95th birthday. Mrs. Whitmire loved her family and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
