A Funeral Service for Mrs. Grace M. Mathews, age 84 of Lineville, will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville with Pastor Brandon Yopp officiating. Burial will follow at Lineville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Mathews passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023 at the Clay County Hospital. A lifelong resident of Clay County, she was a graduate of Lineville High school’s Class of ’56. She loved her family and always put them first. Mrs. Mathews ran Mathews Meat Market for 43 years and had an incredible work ethic and was a longtime member of Lineville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her three children: Lisa Mathews Vinyard (Ronnie) of Rainbow City; Tim C. Mathews (Amy), and Chris Mathews (Donna) all of Lineville; five grandchildren, Allison Therrien (Brian), Bethany Yopp (Brandon), Shannah Mathews, Patrick Frye (Amy) and Anne Acevedo; six great-grandchildren, John and Maeve Therrien, Jaxson and Jarrett Frye, Hayes Yopp and Hazel Hendrix; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, K.V. and Lottie Robertson McDonald; her husband of 65 years, Charles E. Mathews; three sisters and two brothers.
Pallbearers will be Keith Gibson, Austin Hendrix, Mac Hudson, Anthony Mathews, John McDonald, and Derek Riley.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
