Grace Ewing Love, resident of Huntsville, AL, formerly of Decatur, AL, passed away on December 23, 2023 at home peacefully at the age of 101 years old.
She was born to John Ewing and Rosa Betts on November 11, 1922. She had one sibling, Daniel Ewing. She accepted God in her life and was baptized at the age of 12 years old at First Baptist Missionary Church. She attended William Councill High School.
She was married to Herbet L. Love, Sr. on February 4,1941. Their union produced nine children: Herbert Love Jr., Marie Cutwright (deceased), Jerry Love (deceased), Mildred Rice, James Love, Randy Love, Raymond Love, Daniel Love, and Samuel Love.
She was an active member of the community. She was a member of the Circle 3 at her church, a member of the NAACP, Alabama Democratic Committee (ADC), and an Honoree member of the Rosetta James Foundation.
She was the monarch of a four generation family. She was kind, friendly, funny; she always gave unselfishly and she always helped anyone in need. Also, she would love to talk for hours upon hours. She used to say that the secret of a long life is to do a lot of talking.
She was preceded in death by her brother, husband, and two children. She left behind seven children and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and friends.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the First Missionary Baptist Church (3509 Blue Spring Road NW, Huntsville, AL 35810). Interment will be in the Huntsville Memory Gardens. Mrs. Love will lie in repose thirty minutes prior to funeral service.
Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2024, and 8:30 until 11:30 a.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024, at the Royal Funeral Home.
