Grace D. Tedford Burks was born May 22, 1912 in Hardin County, TN the daughter of the late Albert and Nancy Ann Kennedy Tedford.
She was united in marriage to Ocie Burks on September 25, 1927. Mr. Burks preceded her in death on June 19, 1969.
Mrs. Burks was a machine operator at the Brown Shoe Company where she worked for 28 years. She was a member of the West Shiloh Baptist Church in Stantonville, Tennessee and the Eastern Star.
Some of her favorite pastimes were working in her flower gardens, entertaining/ hosting dinners for her family and friends, and always held a Christmas party for all the Brown Shoe Company employees. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren during her vacation and would commonly take them on picnics, she was also was known as a wonderful cook.
Mrs. Burks departed this life on March 11, 2014 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 101 Years, 9 Months, 17 Days.
She is survived by two daughters, Wilma Taylor of Dickson, TN, Dorla Cain of Counce, TN; four grandchildren, Burks Taylor of Dickson, TN, Jayne Scarlett and husband Robert of Dickson, TN, Randy Cain and wife Tonya of Hendersonville, TN, David Cain of Kingston Springs, TN; four great-grandchildren, Andrew Taylor of Dickson, TN, Hunter Cain of Hendersonville, TN, Gavin Cain of Hendersonville, TN, Adan Cain of Little Falls, NY; two great-great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Daisy Cain both of Manchester, TN.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Burks was preceded in death by two brothers, Grady and Earnest Tedford; four sisters, Lois Naylor, Reedie Tedford, Reatha Garrison, and Lydia Brown.
