ATHENS — Governor Robert Bentley on Tuesday will join other state and local leaders to announce two important Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grants for technology improvements in Athens City School and Limestone County School systems.
Each year ARC provides funding for several hundred projects in the Appalachian Region, in areas such as business development, education and job training, telecommunications, infrastructure, community development, housing, and transportation. Thirty-seven Alabama counties are located in the Appalachian region. The two projects expected to be announced Tuesday will help improve students learning and further prepare students for success.
The event is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Athens-Limestone County Public Library.
