gordonGordon Raymond MacLean was born October 6, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Don William MacLean and Catherine Agnes Smith, the third of eight children. He passed from this life on October 21, 2014 at his home in Killen, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his son Michael, parents, and three siblings, Gary, Tom and Danny. In 1957 Gordon married Janet Patricia Brown and to this union five children were born. Known as “Johnny Mack” he was recruited from Hewitt-Trussville High School to play football at Florence State University and moved with his wife and two girls. After receiving his Accounting degree he worked as an insurance adjustor for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Toni and husband Kevin Hawthorne, daughter Vicky, grandson Christopher MacLean-Everhart and great-grandson Cameron Jude Everhart, son Mack MacLean and wife Sharon Wong, and grandson Noah, and daughter Patty and husband Rob Walls. Also surviving are his brothers Don MacLean and wife Jane, Tony MacLean and wife Pat, sisters Frances Davis, Mary Adams and husband Gary, brother-n-law Fred Brown and wife Susan, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and a farewell service at 1:00 pm at Elkins East Chapel in Killen, Alabama on Saturday, October 25, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Haven Adult Training Center, 100 Lamar Ave., Tuscumbia, AL 35674 or Volunteers of America, Southeast at www.voa.org.
