Funeral service for Gordon Ray Sparks, age 81, of Trinity will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Phillips and Rev. Chip Shepard officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 30, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Morris Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Sparks, who died Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born June 18, 1942, in Alabama to Parker Elmer Sparks and Hessie Lavera Hitt Sparks . He was preceded in death by his wives, Linda Nora Milam Sparks and Patricia Dale Hill Sparks; his parents; brother, Bob Sparks; and sister, Jean Pugh.
He is survived by four sons, Ray Sparks (Beth), Scott Smith (Bria), Jamie Sparks (Erica), and Daniel Sparks (Holly); two daughters, Angelia (Sparks) Tapley and April Sparks; three sisters, Melba Heflin, Dianne Brown, and Sharon Sivley; nine grandchildren, Ryan Denham, Eric Tapley, Victoria Sparks, Colton Sparks, Dalton Sparks, Evan Tapley, Garrett Sparks, Brody Sparks and Mannie DeWeese; and three great-grandchildren, Wyatt Sparks, Adelaide Wallace and Mila DeWeese.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
