Gordon Crosswhite, 78, of Tuscumbia died March 22, 2017 at U.A.B. Hospital in Birmingham.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery. Mark Mayfield will officiate.
Gordon was a native of Colbert County, AL. He was a graduate of Colbert County High School and Florence State (U.N.A.). He was a retired Civil Service Technician with Alabama National Guard after thirty years. He was retired from Alabama National Guard as a Sergeant Major after serving forty-two plus years. After retiring, he worked at Tri-Green in Leighton, AL. He was a member of Leighton Baptist Church and Adult Mens II Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Faye Crosswhite and infant brother.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years Cathy Lamon Crosswhite; daughter Susan Coke (Frankie); grandson Blake Barber (Morgan) of Panama City Beach, FL; granddaughter Lauren Barber of Florence and great-grandson Owen Rhett Barber; uncle Art Slaton and aunt Evon Prewett; brother and sister-in-law Charles and Judy Lamon; sister-in-law Debbie Lamon; nephew Jeff Lamon; niece Suzy Browning (Jerry); and great-nieces Paden and Allyn Browning; and Lexi and Madison Lamon and beloved Slaton and Crosswhite cousins.
Pallbearers will be Blake Barber, Jeff Lamon, Jerry Browning, Wayne Jeffreys, Paul Jeffreys, and Dan McCormack.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Underwood, Charles Lamon, Eddie Felton, McCoy Underwood, Luther Gargis, Adult Men’s II Sunday School Class and members of The Deshler Quarterback Club.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
