Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Gloria Dean Hendon, age 79 of Winchester. Mrs. Hendon peacefully entered the presence of the lord on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Many will remember Mrs. Hendon as an amazing cook and dedicated caretaker. Mrs. Hendon loved to spend time in the kitchen and had numerous culinary jobs, including, being a chef assistant at the infamous Hundred Oaks Castle and also at the Franklin County Judicial Center. Mrs. Hendon most recently was a dedicated caretaker to her late husband, Robert Everett Hendon and younger brother Jerry Hendon who also preceded her in death. Prior to becoming ill, Gloria loved to spend time with her beloved grandchildren, fishing, and gardening. She was born in Winchester, TN on February 28, 1942 to the late Roy Thomas Johnson and Lavoil Hannah Jane Johnson (Brown). She is also preceded in death by her sisters Lula Mae Wilkerson, Cleo Harris, and Doris Johnson. Her brothers James Johnson, Leon Johnson, Joe Johnson, Alvin Johnson, and Jerry Hendon also precede her in death. She is survived by her children Troy Hendon (Teresa), Daniel Hendon (Amanda), and Wayne Hendon (Gina) all of Winchester, TN. She also leaves her grandchildren Alan Hendon (Amy) of Hendersonville, TN, Tyler Hendon, Brent, Skie, and Angel Sutton, Karley Butler, Justin, Braylyn, Acelyn, and Robert Hendon of Winchester, TN. Her surviving sisters include Irene Taylor, Louise Taylor (Hosea) of Winchester, TN, and Carolyn Deberry (James). Mrs. Hendon will be deeply missed by a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends that viewed her as their own grandma. The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home on Friday June 25, 2021 between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. The funeral service will follow on Saturday June 26, 2021 at 12 p.m. in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home with Rev. Willie G. Perry officiating. Following the funeral service, Mrs. Hendon will be laid to rest alongside her husband Robert at Asia Cemetery. Pallbearers will be served by friends and family.
