Lankford, 86 of Arab passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022, at Shepherd’s Cove in Albertville. He was born July 8, 1935, in Blount County the son of Howard Lankford and Icle Elizabeth Stone Lankford. He was retired from the Guntersville City School System where he worked in maintenance and a member of Eddy Baptist Church, where he devoted a lot of time working on many projects. Wherever he went he always enjoyed visiting with people, loved to garden and work in his wood working shop.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Melba Merritt Lankford, his sister Nell McGill of Arab and brother Donald Lankford of Troy, along with several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Icle Lankford, a brother Aaron Lankford and sister Shirley Spann.
Funeral Service was 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the Eddy Baptist Church with Brother Jacob Moody officiating with Gober Funeral Chapel directing. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jason Smith, Thomas Barber, Jeremy Bullman, Donnie McGill, Ronnie McGill and Howard Wilson.
