Mrs. Glenna Ruth Foster Thurman, age 76, wife of Bobby Thurman, and a resident of the Southport Community, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home with David Morris and Brian Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on March 9, 1945 in the Stiversville Community of Maury County, Glenna was the daughter of the late Clovis Whitfield Foster, Sr. and the late Mary Pearl Hayes Foster. She was a 1963 graduate of Culleoka High School and married Bobby Thurman on June 13, 1964. Due to Bobby’s service in the United States Navy, they moved to Parris Island, South Carolina, and in 1966 moved back to Tennessee. Glenna loved flowers and animals, especially her beloved Jack Russell, Christmas. She was a devoted member of Highland Church of Christ for fifty-five years. She had a wonderful personality, and she was an excellent cook who loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Bobby of 56 years, she is survived by her sons: Randy (April) Thurman of the Southport Community, Glen (Colleen) Thurman of Columbia; brother, Clovis Whitfield (Bettye) Foster, Jr.; grandchildren: Amanda Thurman, Cody Thurman Worthman (Nicole), Tanner Thurman, Kayla Cadrin; great grandchildren: Chandler, Mackenzie Ruth, Lilah Grace Rosen; brother in law, J.O. Thurman; nieces: Lisa Thurman, Celia Owens, Caroline McNeese, Clovis “Skip” Foster, III; and best friend, sister by heart: Doyce Holden.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister in law, Faye Thurman.
Pallbearers will be: Cody Thurman Worthman, Tanner Thurman, J.O. Thurman, Mark Powers, Chandler Rosen, Ed Shaw, Al Hogan, Clovis “Skip” Foster, III, and Chance Butler.
