Funeral Services for Mr. Glenn Pittard, age 90 of Lineville, will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at the Lineville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Christy Noren-Hentz and Rev. John Gates officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Lineville City Cemetery.

Mr. Pittard passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023 at the Lineville Health and Rehab. He was born in Blount County but lived most of his life around Clay County. He served during the Korean War with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps for several years. Once he was out of the military, he began his scholastic career, graduating as a medical technologist from A.P.I, where he faithfully worked for 55 years from 1961 to 2016. In 2000, he came out of the lab to become Stringfellow Hospital’s Director of Plant Operations. During this time he was responsible for Maintenance, Safety, and Security. He remained in this position until he retired. Mr. Pittard was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and one of the founding fathers of the Clay County Rescue Squad. He loved flying, which he missed most of all, being on the water, riding motorcycles, and was a HAMM radio operator. Out of all of his accomplishments, He was most proud of his time served in the Marine Corps. Mr. Pittard was a loving and loyal Husband, Father, Grandfather, and civil servant. He was a God-loving man and was a member of Lineville First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Pittard is survived by his wife, Sunan Pittard; two sons: Mike Pittard of Auburn and Mark Pittard of Marietta, GA; his step-daughter, Tiya McNabb of Anniston; two grandchildren: Sarah Pittard of Marietta, GA and Aaron Pittard of Auburn; a half-sister, Martha McGuffie of Maylene, plus other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Cecil Clayton and Virginia Glenn Pittard; his first wife, Miriam Graben Pittard; his Step-son, Jay McNabb; daughter-in-law, Beth Pittard; half-brother, R.W. Keller; half-sister, Mary Nell Woods; and his Aunt and Uncle, Louie and Mable Pittard Saxon.

Active Pallbearers will be Danny Rush, Dwain Rush, Larry Carmichael, Aaron Pittard, Anna Marie Rush, and Blake Harmon.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. George Smith Sr, Dr. Buddy Smith, Dr. Lamar Carmichael, General Mark Bowen, Sarah Pittard, and David Goodwin.

His visitation will take place on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Flowers are accepted, however the family would prefer Donations to the Vascular Dementia Society of America: P.O. Box 600, Doylestown, PA 18901.
