Glenn Hale MayfieldGlenn Hale Mayfield, age 86, of Russellville, passed away on Tuesday, June 07, 2022 at his residence.

Glenn met Linda Jones when she was only 14 and it was love at first sight.  He run the projector at King’s Drive Inn while they were still dating and then they married and spent 66 wonderful years together.  Glenn was a part time comedian who never went on the road.  He would crack himself up over a joke as well as everyone around him.  He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved deer hunting, turkey hunting, and fishing. Glenn worked as a barber in Russellville for many years, went to Texas for 10 years, but came back to Russellville, resumed his job as a barber as if he had never been gone.  He was very talented Jack of all trades, very artistic, loved working with leather, and was like an inventor who never got discovered.  He was a minister in the Methodist church and later the Nazarene Church in Russellville for many years.  Above everything, he loved his Lord, his wife, and his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Mayfield; mother, Bessie Dale Hale Mayfield; sister, Doris Allen; brothers, O.C.  Mayfield, Wayne Mayfield, and Larry Mayfield.

He leaves to cherish her memory, his wife of 66 years, Linda Jones Mayfield; daughter, Elaine Lawson (Van); son, Vic Mayfield (Renee); grandchildren, Chris Lawson (Candie), Nathan James, Chris Scott, Chase Mayfield, John (Sarah) Barbosa; great-grandchildren, Payton Scott, Emmie Scott, Bryn Scott, Ava Barbosa, Parker Barbosa, Ellie Lawson; and several nieces & nephews.

The visitation will be 12:00 noon – 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 09, 2022 at Spry Memorial Chapel, Russellville, AL.  The service will be at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev Doc Shell and Vic Mayfield officiating.  Burial will be at Gravel Hill Cemetery (Mt. Star Community).  Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jack McLendon, and the nurses and staff of Southern Care Hospice for your wonderful care of Glenn.
