Glenda Sue King Short went to Heaven on her 80th birthday, September 18, 2023.
Graveside services will be Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery. Adam Brewer will officiate.
She grew up at 904 Deleware Ave, Jasper, AL with her parents John Coleman King and Oneida Hicks King and her sisters Barbara, Laverne, Sharlene and brothers Johnny (her twin) and Jimmy and special niece Jeanie Neal.
The Kings were a coal mining family. She met the love of her life Don when he just got out of the Navy. They were married 59 wonderful years. Don fell in love with her red hair, not so fiery temper and strong will, not to mention her white uniform she wore as a lab tech. She first worked at the UMWA Jasper Community Hospital; Jasper Family Clinic; The Afterhours Clinic, but her greatest joy was volunteering at The Hope Clinic.
She was preceded in death by her Father-John Coleman King; her Mother-Oneida Hicks King; her Sisters-Laverne (Kenneth) Dutton and Barbara Jean King; her Brother-Johnny Hugh King.
She is survived by her Husband-Don Short; her Brother-Jimmy King (Nicole); her Sister-Sharlene Medlock (James) and her Children-LaDonna Daniels (Bill), Teresa Robbins (Keith) and Mark Short (Allison); her Grandchildren-Taylor, Katie (Steven), Sarah (Ryan), Savannah, Raven (Tyler), Emma Kate and Skylar; her Great Grandchildren-Kenzlee, Cass, Colson, Easton, Jayde, Karleigh, Scarlett and Lyric; Host of nieces and nephews.
