Mrs. Glenda Rae Blake, age 79, of Arab, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at her residence.
Mrs. Blake was born on June 10, 1938 to Melvin Brannon and Lorene Minor Brannon in Marshall County. Her late husband Dewaine Blake passed on April 27, 1976. Mrs. Blake wrote and directed 5 Arab Elementary School operettas between 1970-1975. She owned Glenda’s Wedding & Receptions from 1973-1979; where she made wedding cakes, party cakes, wedding flowers & directed weddings. Mrs. Blake served as a contracting officer for DARPA, Missile Space Intelligence Command from 1980 on until retirement.
Mrs. Blake is a member of Arab First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Steven Blake; daughter & son-in-law, Regina Blake and Ted Bullerdick; brother and sister-in-law, Billy & Diane Brannon. Preceded in death by her Husband, Dewaine Blake; parents, Melvin Brannon and Lorene Minor Brannon; sister, Carolyn Maze.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 26, 2018 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Brother: Matt Jordan, officiating. Burial will be in Gilliam Springs Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Mike Maze, Steven Blake, Greg Brannon, Ted Bullerdick, Gus & Brian Chapman.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday May 25, 2018 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
