Mrs. Glenda Joy Baswell, 81, of West Monroe, LA, passed away at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe on February 15, 2025.
Glenda was married to the late John Baswell for 49 years prior to his passing on February 14, 2014. Glenda and John were born on September 3, 1943, and married on September 6, 1964. They were both huge fans of Mississippi State and attended as many Mississippi State events as they could. They loved traveling and being around family. She never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Leonard and Bonnie Ellis; sister, Sandra Ruth Grace; and a great grandchild.
She is survived by her son, Richard Leonard Baswell (Brenda) of New Braunfels, TX; her daughter, Sally Baswell Stutson (Ben) of West Monroe, LA; and her son, John Edd Baswell and her beloved dog, Petunia of Beecher, IL; grandchildren, Channing Alexander Stutson, Kelsey Mildred Bettevy, Kaitlyn Savanna Baswell, Courtney Elizabeth Bettevy, Madison Grace Baswell, Richard Austin Baswell, Casey Joy Sylvester (Joseph), Kylie Ann Stutson, and Madison George; five great grandchildren, Henry Stutson, Jack Stutson, Meredith Stutson, Benjamin Jones, and William Bettevy; three sisters, Margie Jean Bell of Hattiesburg, MS, Ellen Dane Prisock of Madison, MS, and Connie Greer of Laurel, MS; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. Baswell is scheduled for Wednesday, February 19, 2025 from 9:30-10:50 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville, MS. A funeral service will be held on February 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, conducted by the Rev. Jones. Burial will follow in Sturgis Cemetery.
