Glen Alan Frelichowski, a great ole soul, departed this life for perpetual light in eternity from North Miss. Medical Center in Tupelo, MS on Friday, August 30, 2024 after battling cancer. He was 85. Born in Joliet, Illinois on September 29, 1938 to the late John Frelichowski and Marie Stamm Frelichowski, he grew up in Illinois. A very patriotic American, Glen joined the U. S. Navy and served aboard the U. S. S. Ticonderoga CYA-14 during active service. After his tour of duty, Glen spent 2 years in inactive service to his country. By trade, he was a meat cutter/butcher and highly sought for his vast knowledge of meat. He married Mary L. Mrkacek at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lemont, Illinois on Aug. 11, 1962. Glen relocated from Lockport, IL to north central Wisconsin (Taylor County) where he resided for 25 years. The Frelichowskis then moved to the Tupelo area in 1995 where Mary had a key position with Marathon Cheese Mfg. in Boonville and Glen continued his work as a meat cutter/butcher with Piggly Wiggly and Food Giant until his retirement. They were active members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Booneville and St. James Catholic Church in Tupelo. Glen was an active member of Knights of Columbus Council #8848. Very civic minded all his life, Glen served as a volunteer fireman (Captain) of N.W. Homer Volunteer Fire Dept. in Lockport. Illinois and as a Volunteer Sheriff’s Deputy for Will Co. Illinois Sheriff’s Dept. He was a member of American Legion Post 49 in Tupelo and volunteered locally at North Miss. Medical Center. An adventurous man, Glen loved the outdoors fishing, hunting and enjoyed collecting Eagles and beer Steins.

A Funeral Mass will be held at a yet undetermined time on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024 at St. Frances of Assisi Catholic Church in Booneville with Fr. Tim Murphy and Fr. Mario Soldrzano as co-celebrants and with military honors to follow. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo is honored to be serving the family.

Glen is survived by his sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Mary; his sons, Glen M. Frelichowski (Sharon, deceased) and Lawrence J. “Larry” Frelichowski; grandfather of Amanda Jo. Newby (Jim), Jessica Augustine (Travis), Dominic Frelichowski, John Duranceaus (Lindsey), James Duranceau, Jennifer Duranceau and Christopher Frelichowski; 19 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Frelichowski (Rosemary) and David Frelichowski (Kathline).
