Gladys Viola Jones age 89 of Athens, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Athens Limestone Hospital. Mrs. Jones was born May 3, 1926 in Giles County, TN to Elijah Steelman and Hazel Tilkins Steelman.
Services will be Thursday, January 21, 2016 1:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Anthony Anderson and Dwight Rayburn officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Dement Cemetery.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Victor C. Jones; three sons, Otis Jones, Sr., Therman Jones and Dorsey Jones; two brother, Bud Steelman and George Steelman; two sisters, Minnie Lovell and Sillar Wallace.
Survived by two sons, Wayne Jones and wife, Sharon and Clarence Jones and wife, Sandra; one daughter, Fannie Powers and husband, David; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be David Powers, Jason Partrick, Wayne Jones, Carl Jones, Sr., Clarence Jones and Gene Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Jones, Jr., Chris Jones, Timothy Jones and Bernie Moyer.
