Gladys Olen Carter, of Athens, Alabama, passed away on August 16th, 2023, at Tanner Higgins General Hospital in Brenen, Georgia. Gladys was born on March 17th, 1932, to parents Robert Dean and Mary Thigpen.
Ms. Carter is survived by her sons Don Carter, Gary Carter (Kimberly), Mike Carter; daughter Jolynn Truett (Chris); grandchildren Jason Carter, Wes Carter, Jillian Carter, Whit Carter, Braingian, Brenna, Brittney, Amy Corley, Beth Cunningham; great-grandchildren Dylan, Kaylee, Adleigh, Olivia, Savannah, Case, Collins, Jack, Cathrine, Luke, Charollte, Kade, Page, Abbie, Tucker, and Carter Mae.
She is preceded in death by her husband Herbert Carter; brothers and sisters Ruby Irene Dean, Verta Odell Dean, Jessie May Dean, Glynn Dean, Bennie Dean, James Alvin Dean, Elene Gertrude Dean, Hubert Lee Dean, Clifford Otis Dean, Buford Branson Dean, Octavie Dean, and Virginia Dean.
Funeral Services for Ms. Carter will be on August 21st, 2023, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home at 2:00pm. Visitation will be on August 20th, 2023, from 2-5:30pm. Burial will be at Limestone Memorial Garden.
Gladys loved to cook and sew for kids and everyone else. She loved to talk, watch QVC, and listen to music. She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. She would do anything to go out of her way for her kids to be happy.
