Gladys Marylynn Baker, 68, of Center Star, went home to be with her Lord and saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Her visitation will be Thursday, January 29th, from 6 pm until 8 pm at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 8880 Co. Rd. 71, Lexington, Alabama 35648. Her funeral service will be Friday, January 30th, at 2 pm at the church with Bro. Jason Vinson officiating. Burial will follow in Barnett Cemetery.
Gladys was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Annie Weems; an infant son, William Christopher Baker; and brother, Bill Weems. She was the former owner of Baker’s Florist and Mitchell Town Florist.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Wayne Baker; sons, Chucky Baker and his wife Teresa, Joey Baker and his wife Nancy, Marty Baker and his wife Christy; sisters, Elois Thigpen and Ethel Holden; brothers, Jimmy Weems and his wife Learley, and Bobby Weems; grandchildren, Courtney James and her husband Brandon, Kayla Bray and her husband Chad, Chasity Baker and Braxton Baker; great grandchildren, Brennan James and Levi Bray; step grandsons, Chase Cosby and his wife Melany and Corey Cosby; step great grandchildren, Kaeli James, Mason Davis, Hannah Sparks, and Taylor Ann Cosby; special friend she thought of as a daughter, Cathy Purser; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Baker, Johnny Ray Weems, James Baker, John Parrish, John McMullen, and Carl Simpson.
